If you never really thought of cauliflower as your thing this recipe is a game changer! This is an exciting way to make vegetables a little more fun! Even those of us that really don’t fancy cauliflower might just enjoy it. I would say this recipe is very kid friendly. Roasted cauliflower makes for a very delicious snack and a very easy side dish.
Cauliflower raw and plain old boiled is just plain old boring! So… if you are looking for a new way to make vegetables more exciting, then this is the roasted cauliflower recipe for you! You can definitely make this with regular cauliflower but purple cauliflower is just so much brighter and tends to have a sweeter taste which is better for kids! However, if you’re a mom on a budget or just on a budget… purple cauliflower tends to be a little more expensive.
What is the best way to cut a purple cauliflower?
If you randomly hack into your cauliflower, there would be a lot of waste and you would not be getting the most out of the cauliflower.
First pull the stem and leaves to the side. You don’t have to throw these away, they can be used in a stir fry or added to a soup. Then take a good knife and put the stem flat on the cutting board. Slice down from the top of the cauliflower, in half to the core.
Take a cauliflower half and using your knife, cut at an angle alongside the core in an upside-down V shape. The cauliflower florets should separate by themselves, but you can use your knife to remove any additional core that is holding them together. Halve or quarter any remaining large florets.
How long will roasted cauliflower keep?
The cauliflower will keep in the fridge for about 3 to 4 days in an airtight container.
Can you make roasted cauliflower in advance?
I love prep cooking so that way I can spend more time with my family! You can make some of this in advance, all you do is chop everything up and toss it with all the ingredients, brown sugar, salt, olive oil and plum and then keep it in the fridge until you are ready to roast it.
