Jambalaya is an extremely popular dish that is favored by many people around the world! It was first made in New Orleans, Louisiana and was inspired by flavors of Spanish, West African, and French cuisine.

1 Cup Diced Ham
1 Large onion, chopped
1/2 Cup Butter
3 minced Cloves Garlic
1/2 Cup Chopped Celery
1 1/2 Cup Chicken Stock
1/2 Green pepper Chopped
1 pound Peeled Crawfish or Shrimp
1 1/2 Cup Clam Juice
1/4 Cup Chopped green onion
1 Large Chopped Tomato
1/4 Cup Parsley
1/2 Tsp Cayenne
Salt and Pepper to taste
1 1/2 Cup uncooked Rice
1/2 Cup Peas
Sauté ham, onion, garlic, in butter until golden.
Add celery, and green pepper, sauté 5 minutes.
Stir in remaining ingredients, except rice, shrimp and peas.
Heat mixture until boiling, stir in rice and shrimp, reduce heat.
Cook uncovered 10 minutes stir in peas, cook uncovered until rice is tender.
My experience with Jambalaya
I first had Jambalaya when I worked for a popular pizza chain, and I had never had it before that, it was so yummy! It was insane that I had never heard of Jambalaya before that. I am glad to share this recipe with you because it is a classic staple. Jambalaya is an extremely easy meal to prepare. This version I am going to try both as it is and in my slow cooker. Also note I am using frozen peas and shrimp.
I thought Clam Juice would have been very hard to find in the grocery store but it was actually rather easy I have just never used clam juice to cook with. I think it is an interesting ingredient, but grandmother knows best! It would have been amazing if she would have been able to make this for me, but as a kid I likely would have just stuck my nose up at it, as I was an extremely picky eater when I was young.

Ingredients
