~Simple holiday decorating touches~

Small holiday touches can go a long way to making your space feel festive while not being totally over the top. Let your holiday decor on your surfaces pop (think mantle, cabinet, side table, etc.!) with accents like taper candles, rustic bells, greenery, and miniature trees to instantly create a holiday feel. For instance tiny tannenbaum which is essentially a tiny christmas tree.

The little things add up to create a tasteful winter wonderland in no time.

~Spice up the decorations with the outdoors~

Where I live the boy scouts always sell wreaths and holiday garlands, and as I can imagine the boy scouts are most likely everywhere here in the United states. So show your holiday spirit and support them!  The wreaths, garlands, and greenery they sell are beautiful and key elements like these are important  when it comes to decorating for the holidays. The smell alone will be insanely incredible, and they look gorgeous in every area of your home.

I love it when there are Christmas decorations in unexpected places—like a wreath in the bathroom or a garland in the kitchen, or a coffee table or framing a doorway. A lot of the time your local florist will have really beautiful Christmas wreaths with dried flowers and this is a great option for decorations that tend to last a lot longer!

~Recognizing color and texture are extremely important!~

Rather than going over the top with strictly seasonal décor, consider everyday pieces you already own! If you have a red terracotta pot, or any other pot laying around, for instance you can easily add the feel of winter by planting a festive plant like a Christmas Cactus. They are so beautiful when they bloom and would add a festive feel to your home all year long. When you lightly touch these plants often they grow! I think they are so fun to interact with, and would be especially fun for children.

When I think of Christmas and Thanksgiving I always think of the color red. Maybe you have a red sheet laying around the house and fold it over a side table, to create a pop of holiday color. Think of anything you have that has a rust-tone, woven accents, and anything with a winter tone, red, green, blue, black, gold, silver, and white are all great hues to decorate with during the holidays. A throw blanket in the living room nicely draped over a chair, or a couch, and in the bedroom on the end of the bed, can add a winter feel to your space.

Anything to bring in the spirit of the season like the gold in the bed spread shown above, it isn’t over the top holiday spirit but it still creates a feel of the holiday season. Keep in mind that individual everyday items like these can be styled and restyled all year long.

~ Pay close attention to detail~

It’s the little things that make all the difference when decorating for the holidays. To make your home look and feel like the holiday is upon us, add lights around your home. Get a strand of white Christmas lights and drape it around a table. Observe and realize that the small details add up to make a very large impact. It can be completely subtle and it wont go unnoticed. Around the holidays they sell festive looking wax warmers, which make your home smell so good! They have a ton of holiday scents that will have your house smelling like the holidays. I love coming home on a cold winter day and having the house smell like pumpkin pie, or evergreens. It is the little things!

~Make your kitchen table scream it is Christmas!!~

Pull out a thin plaid scarf you have sitting in your closet and use it as part of your kitchen table décor. You can place it on the table with garlands for a very beautiful area to eat. Another great Idea is to use napkins, blue berries, and carrots to make snowman for your place settings. Kids and adults alike will love this!

~Create out of this world cocktails~

My wonderful best friend makes apple cider every year she has an annual apple cider get together, where everyone brings their apples and makes insanely good apple cider. ~Bake insanely delicious holiday treats~

How can the holidays be the holidays without fresh baked goods? You should consider baking a pie or even our out of this world insanely delicious Apple Cake! This easy and delicious apple cake will be a perfect treat!  Since it has sweet chunky apples paired in a decedent cake. This moist cake would make a wonderful snake, breakfast, or dessert.  This desert would make a great comforting holiday recipe.

~Get down with the holiday jams!~

If you can’t seem to get into the holiday spirit after holiday decorating make sure you put on your favorite holiday music! Pandora has some wonderful winter playlists. If cheesy Christmas music isn’t your style then just put on whatever makes you happy. Practice gratitude for everything you have even if it is something simple or small.

Happy, happy, holidays and cheers to the season!
